FOUNDER: Rebecca Rickett

Hi my name is Rebecca Rickett, I founded Big Star Productions with a deep passion for helping people and music. My career started in 1985 after graduating from broadcasting school in the Northwest. I began a 10 year career as an on-air personality, which included producing commercials and voiceovers. I meet my husband literally on-air as he worked with the same broadcasting company. We moved to Southern California in 1995 were I began working with an independent record label, Thump records as a Production Manager. I supervised and coordinated the production of all label content from CD’s to promotional material as well as being directly involved in distribution and advertising campaigns. Through my colleagues I was recognized by EMI Capitol Records were I began a wonderful career working with their Special Markets division as Senior Creative Services Coordinator. Coordinating over 300 releases a year I became extremely competent in all aspects of print, graphic design and managing fast paced releases. I had the opportunity to help many third party clients from Eddie Bauer, Nordstrom’s, Target, Ace Hardware and many more through Capitol Records amazing catalogue of artists.

Big Star Productions is a magnificent extension of all of my life’s experiences and now allows me to work on a one-to-one relationship with each client and I find that the most rewarding of all. BSP has now helped major label artists as well as independent artists and record labels launch music releases on CD and vinyl, and we feel blessed for that opportunity. We were proud to display some of our projects on the graphix page of our site.

My Hobbies: Besides playing with my Mac I love the outdoors, photography, of course I love to shop,throw in a little golf and gardening and that should about do it.
And by the way guys if you think I am a city girl, I can fire a 6 ounce panther across the lake and hook a brown before you could finish tying a fly on the end of your rod! LOL

CO-FOUNDER: Gary Rickett

Hello my name is Gary Rickett, I am co-founder of Big Star Productions.   It has been such a wonderful journey to effect peoples lives in a positive way and it has also been incredible watching my wife Rebecca develop as an amazing talent. 
We first meet in radio in the early 80’s as I spent a 12-year career as afternoon drive air personality and Rebecca was hired on to host a show called Love line in the evenings.  Well I guess you can see how that ended up.   I was heavily into writing and producing commercials and voice over’s, creating music logs for country and  top40-radio stations, as music director.  My main challenge was keeping us one step ahead of the competition in a 14-station market.  Some years we won some we lost, however that experience set the stage for the next chapter. 

We soon moved to southern California were I began promoting a new country artist, calling on radio stations nationwide and creating enough of a story to attract a company called Walmart to feature us in store, as well as ordering our music and help launch a career.  That lead to my next position with the very same company  I had originally contacted to get in store buys, Anderson Merchandisers. Anderson  the largest music merchandising company in the world, as they managed the largest retailer in the world,  Walmart.  I was responsible for ordering all music content for a territory of Walmart stores in southern California.  A great experience, setting up in store mini concerts with artists as well as creating music promotions to build excitement and sales. 

This was in 99 about the time the Internet started kicking in.  Out of the blue I was contacted online by a gentleman who had an amazing company and an even more amazing dream.  To create a music platform online to sell, merchandise and fulfill music orders around the globe.  This company was called Global Fulfillment.  The first online global ordering system sourcing the originsof anorder and tracking the nearest supplier to fulfill orders anywhere in the world.  Now a little girl in China could order a Britney Spears CD from a website and have the order fulfilled locally to her residence in Beijing.  Wow this was big stuff.  The former manager of Whitney Houston who was a maverick and a visionary hired me, he was one of the true mentors in my life.  I was signed on as a content director for some of the first music Internet sites to emerge in the late 90’s.  I wound up selling the first websites and fulfillment solutions to companies like Gaylord Entertainment, Niche Music, Ordermusic.com and others.

At this point my wife Rebecca’s career and mine were on more or less the same path as our careers crossed somewhere in between my work and hers at Capitol Records EMI.  Big Star Productions was conceived by Rebecca one day after helping a small independent record company launch their first CD in Los Angeles.  The rest as they say…..

Today BSP provides wonderful graphic design, images and concepts helping to capture the artist’s vision and artistic expression.  Working closely with our clients is most rewarding and we are proud of some of the many CD’s,compilations and projects we have been involved in, some of which are provided online at our website www.bigstarproductions.com. This site designed and created by Rebecca.

BSP began providing the print elements to be able to have complete control over the final product and to ensure the highest quality possible.  We help clients in areas of graphic design, conception, to  CD and DVD manufacture, barcodes,  print, production, music mastering and digital downloads. Our custom music premiums help clients launch new business and extend brand identity, this is very exciting.  To date we have conceived and designed many company concepts, logos and company imaging for clients in the financial field as well as hospitals, universities and even television movie stars.

My Hobbies include playing my Rickenbacker solid body six string, I love skating and hockey, riding my beach cruiser down the boardwalk at Hermosa beach. I am an outdoors nut and love all kinds of fishing from small trout streams, to lake and deep sea.  I also love spending time with my 11-year-olddaughter Abby and wife Rebecca who is now learning to play guitar as well.
